Some 7 Dots Studio...

A wrap up of some of my projects from the past couple of months for 7 Dots Studio. Click HERE to visit their blog, the team is incredibly, creatively, brilliant, and you are certain to be inspired!

My last baby is something special (aren't they all?!)… there is a special story to his name, one that keeps us believing in all things life, all things faith, all things amazing. Titled “believe” because, well, we do…
The soft colors in the “Love is in the Air” collection was perfect for capturing the mood that I wanted to set with this layout. My son fell ill only a few weeks after being born, and his sweet little face needed to be framed in some quiet blue and green hues.

A bit of molding paste, alcohol inks, and some molding paste set the

I have held onto this picture for years… for 14 as a matter of fact. It’s small, it’s so small. But it is precious to me, because it is one of 5 photographs that I have from when my husband and I were dating. Ahhh, how young we were. How much love there was right away!
I used the colors from the Dreamer Collection to inspire all the elements that I used to embellish the layout with. I wanted to give the eye a place to rest with the white gesso splothces, but I drew the rest of the color palette, including my alpha stickers, paints, and inks from the background colors within the paper.
I also used scraps from this collection to layer bits and strips of paper within my clusters, on top of stickers and corrugated cardboard.

Another small photo, but one in which brings back so many memories of my girls when they were ever so little. I combined the Dreamer and The Queen’s Heart collections to create this layout and I think they work wonderfully together!
I started with the backside of the “Daydreaming” paper, using it as a background, and then using some scraps from the front side of the paper I cut out some of the distressed squares. After attaching my photo to those squares, I added art mediums and paints to make the photo a part of the scene. I embellished the layout using cut-out elements from the 6×6 The Queen’s Heart paper collection, and some of the banner stickers from the Dreamer collection.

Who says that you can’t make yourself into how you see yourself? Yes, I see myself adorned with headdresses made of flowers, flourishes, threads, and butterflies… but ahhhh, no one else sees that side of Heidi :).. at least, I don't think they do!

Have you ever had one of those days, you know, the kind in which you have so many things to think about, that you are swirling with ideas and things to do? That is exactly what this layout is about and I thought that Finn’s Dreamer Collection perfectly captures it with all of its intense hues, swirls, distressed squares and taping effects. Yes, this was my mood that day!

I only used one sheet, for background paper, to show how easy it is to use this collection. I simply coordinated some flowers and metal embellishments to the colors within the collection, and then added additional Alcohol inks and Shimmerz Paints to make the colors that more intense and dramatic.
