Prima is soooo DeVine!!

Okay, so when I first got my hands on some of the Prima felt DeVines, I had NO IDEA just how much I was going to adore them. See, their cut out shape is perfect for so many layouts that I have stored up in my head and they offer an incredible canvas for altering. I so enjoy getting my hands dirty... you know, gesso'ing, painting, inking, etc. and the layout I created today was no exception.

The inspiration came almost completely from the DeVines. That, and the mess that I call my scrap space. I have a nasty habit of leaving things out that I use all the time... a couple of those things being acrylic paints and Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist. In addition to those things, I had a jar of sand sitting out (left over from my daughter's 3rd grade science project). It all cried out to me!

1.To alter your own DeVines from Prima (or any other felt embellishment), coat them in your favorite shades of Glimmer Mist. (I used Lime and Tattered Leather.)

2. Lightly apply Fabri-Tac on parts of the felt, and then pour sand over top.

3. Let soak up color completely. This will cause some bubbling, but it turns out SO COOL.

4. Take a sponge brush, and carefully apply Mod Podge over the top. Some of this will pull up, but don't worry about that - it lends itself to the overall effect! I really coated it. (And was a bit nervous at first because it looked like I had put too much on there and I wasn't sure it was going to dry completely invisible... )

5. But it did! Let dry overnight. I let mine dry for 24 hours before playing with the layout any more.

Have fun!
